The project submitted the following text for consideration for the Mipim Award 2019:
The Dom-Römer project returns Frankfurt its vibrant and diverse city center, forming both the new and the “old” heart of the city. The historic inner-city pathways between the Cathedral and Römerberg, as well as between the city center and the Main River, are once again activated with their squares and alleys. Urban integration is achieved not only through the fine-grained building structure but also through a balanced mix of uses including living, working, shopping, leisure, culture, and recreation. Architecturally, the Dom-Römer project picks up on the typical features and characteristics of the surrounding buildings, such as steeply pitched roofs, vertically oriented windows, and stone plinths. Access to the Dom-Römer project is provided via an integrated underground car park and a subway station. The public spaces themselves are reserved for pedestrians. Here, Frankfurt residents meet, stroll, and celebrate. The Dom-Römer project thus serves as a shared meeting place for daily life, benefiting both new residents and the broader city community, while creating added value through new urban spaces and places.
In addition, a submission film was provided. The winning film was presented to the audience after the award ceremony.

During the planning and construction phases, the project was documented in a variety of ways. In addition to countless photographs, moving images also showcase the impressive skills and qualities of everyone involved in the project. Here, you can enjoy the following short films:
The individual buildings of the New Old Town can be viewed and selected on an overview map. Detailed descriptions of the reconstructions and new buildings are available on the project page.
