Democracy does not live solely through institutions such as parliaments, courts, or elections. It thrives on people who embrace certain values internally and uphold them in everyday life. Among those who took responsibility for the common good in their time and contributed to society through their thinking and actions were, among others, Theodor W. Adorno, the Mitscherlich couple, Ludwig Börne, and Tony Sender.

My idea didn’t come only from a love of football, but above all from a feminist perspective. I said, what men can do, we can do too.” (Quote by Lotte Specht)

In memory of this committed pioneer, the Lotte Specht Association (Lotte Specht e.V.) was founded on March 8, 2020. Among its goals, the association aims to increase the visibility of girls and women in football and to take an active stand against sexism, racism, anti-Semitism, and homophobia.

A personal and intellectual connection existed between Heinrich Hoffmann and Friedrich Stoltze within the liberal Frankfurt bourgeoisie around the time of the 1848 National Assembly. Both figures maintained a correspondence that reveals a personal friendship while also providing insight into Frankfurt’s bourgeois-liberal milieu. Although their political views were not entirely identical, they were united by their commitment to civil liberty and municipal self-governance.
